The Father of Japanese Special Effects......

The original creator of the great Japanese Giant Monsters .... Like Godzilla...
... He later founded his own production company and there he created the very Popular "Ultraman" series.... (that was one that we enjoyed daily after-school as a kid)

He even did the effects for "the H Man" that we have liked since we saw around age 10 on late TV... he was given high praise for his "break-through" idea of miniature sets and a guy in a rubber suit.... The past had seen the use of stop-motion animation..... thus his way to create a giant monster was a New concept at the time.....

Godzilla fans owe this creative and innovative man a debt of gratitude.....
Today would have been the 114th birthday of Eiji Tsuburaya.....

  1. He started out doing War-Propaganda films... and had a love of building model airplanes.... thus the use of "miniatures.... "
.... and he helped in the creation of several other giant monsters.... and even a couple of Vincent Price films of the 60's like "War Gods of the Deep" ... and "Dr. Goldfoot"
